This picture shows us the percentage per country of people living with less than a dollar a day in 2007-2008. What can we conclude. Can we see poverty clusters? Of course yes, the two main clusters are Africa and South-Est of Asia.
Now let's do an exercise:
- Thinking in this poverty repartition of the world, every times you are using a dollar ask you: Do I really NEED it?
- Every time you are complaining about something ak you: Do they complain? Do I know what pain is?
Well,to clarify the first question, we live in a world where the money emission and repartition is controlled by our behaviors. If you win money (consumption vouchers), someone is loosing it. What if you and me could lower our consumption level and so save money in order to give it to people you really NEED it.
To enlighten the second interrogation, I think that it is ok to complain because it is a component of our nature. But we have to carry and respect each other in an empathic way. I should complain because I will fall asleep hungry tonight, but I cannot complain because my Ipod is not working.
So what do we want to do with this problem. Do we want our next generations to learn at school that in the 21th century (Christian calendar), we allowed 1 person out of six to live in inhuman conditions when we could have helped them with a couple of simple behaviors: saving, giving, respect and maybe commit yourself to make the world a better place.
